I would like to know that I am a two time survivor of cancer. My first diagnosis was brain tumor in the left frontal lobe of my brain. I was told that it was inoperable by my neurosurgeon and that I should get my affairs together as I didn’t have much time to live. One of my relatives sent me a box that you had made with a saying inside. Not being a religious person, I didn’t know what to think about but I wrote my trials and tribulations about the cancer. I wrote about how I loved my husband so much and didn’t want to leave him. What would happen to my children and why had this happened to me? I guess the things that others think about who are faced with a similar diagnosis. It became a ritual that every night I would write down my thoughts, my concerns and hopes for whatever time I had left. I felt a calming in my body every time I would put my writings in that wooden box. I eventually completed the radiation and was told that I had approximately two years to live as the tumor had become smaller. Then two years later I was told I was in remission. I was elated. I still have MRI’s every six months but it has not grown. My doctors call me a miracle.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer several years later. Then I was faced with the loss of a breast, chemotherapy and radiation. It wasn’t easy but I because I had survived the brain tumor I would survive the breast cancer with the help of the little wooden box. My doctors again said I am I walking miracle. But I know what really happened and so do you.
